Data protection (GDPR / RGPD)
Data controller
Mark Faulkner, owner-operator of Marianne Cottage. As a small individual operation, no Data Protection Officer is required. For any data-protection question, email booking@mariannecottage.fr.
What we process and why
Booking data (name, email, phone, country, dates, special requests) is stored in our Supabase database hosted in the EU. We use it solely to fulfil your stay and respond to your enquiries. It is retained for up to 10 years for accounting purposes and deleted on request unless we are legally required to keep it.
Payment data is handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers; Stripe is the data controller for card details. We retain a payment-intent reference and amount only.
Transactional emails (booking confirmation, cancellation, reminders) are sent through Brevo (formerly Sendinblue). Open and click tracking pixels are loaded only after you accept optional cookies on the banner.
Map tiles on the Contact and Explore pages are served by Google Maps and load only after you accept optional cookies. Without consent, a static fallback is shown instead.
Retention
Booking records: up to 10 years for accounting. Cookie consent: stored locally in your browser for 12 months. We do not run a newsletter and do not retain marketing profiles.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, port, and object to processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact the data controller above.

Language preference and a session cookie used to remember your booking flow. These do not require consent.
Optional (consent required)
Google Maps tiles and email tracking pixels (Brevo). Loaded only after you accept on the cookie banner.

Terms of stay
By booking with Marianne Cottage you agree to the following terms.
Check-in is from 16:00 on the arrival date; check-out is by 11:00 on the departure date.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the cottage.
The number of guests must not exceed the maximum stated on your booking.
Please be considerate of neighbours, particularly between 22:00 and 08:00.
Pet policy: Pets are not permitted at the cottage.
Damages and deposit: No deposit is collected. Damage caused during your stay is the guest's responsibility and may be invoiced separately.
Accepting these terms
Booking confirmation requires you to tick the terms-and-conditions box on the final step of the booking flow. By doing so you confirm that you have read and accept these terms together with the cancellation policy below.
Cancellation policy
All bookings are subject to the cancellation policy in force at the time of booking. The current default Moderate policy is:
14 or more days before check-in — 100% refund
7 to 13 days before check-in — 50% refund
Less than 7 days before check-in — no refund
Refunds are processed automatically to the original card via Stripe. Bookings made through Booking.com are governed by Booking.com's own cancellation policy and must be cancelled there.
